Perfect filler item for vegan cat meals

Perfect filler item for vegan cat meals
I have 3 cats with very different personalities. They all love the taste and are healthy and in shape . HOWEVER, we need to remember that humans don't rely on ONE single food to get enough nutrients. Therefore, neither can cats. This food is a perfect "side/filler item" I give my cats (they like the hardness of kibble too much, they don't really like wet food). For example, I prepare meals for them that include 1/4 ami cat food, 1 tbsp chia gel, 1/4 tsp vegan taurine powder, 1/4 tsp ground flax seed, some blended veggies and kelp powder, etc... Every day is different.... Point is, it is a good starter food to transition cats into veganism because they like the taste, but don't forget to add the other essential components so your cat can thrive

Both my vegan cats love this food. Because it's a little pricier, I actually give them these as "imported Italian cat treats" (shhh, they don't know it's just kibble). I put them in a jar which I shake, and they come running. I throw a few and they hunt them down. As indoor cats they love this game - lets them hunt and use their nose to track their food. Amazing how they find them.

For their regular food I give them another similar vegan kibble that's cheaper. Since it's hard to find vegan cat treats, these make a nice one.

HEALTH NOTE: With any dry kibble, I found especially for male cats it's good to moisten it so it doesn't dry them out and lead to UTIs. By moistening it you can also stir in a bit of powdered marshmallow root which lubricates the urinary tract, cranberry powder and/or vitamin C powder that helps prevent crystal formation, tiny bit of nutritional yeast once in awhile for a cheesy flavor, contents of a vegan MSM capsule (promote joint health, prevent arthritis), contents of a milk thistle capsule occasionally (liver health), contents of a vegan vitamin D3 capsule, ground flax seed or hulled hemp seed for oils/omegas, etc. I have only one cat now who's 17, and my other died at 22, both were super healthy vegans. People still say, "that's the healthiest looking cat I've ever seen, I can't believe he's 17!" Only health issues they had was bad teeth (brush them) and UTIs before I started moistening the food and adding some herbs/vitamins.

Sorry, Ami. I'm vegan and wanted my cat to be, too, but learned from vets, including lifetime vegan ones, and lots of shelters, like Do No Harm, that only 1% of cats can live on a vegan diet. Problem is, you don't know if your cat is one of those until it is way too late and they will die. There is a question regarding those who are actually able to live long lives on vegan, that 1%, as to whether they thrive, or more often survive. They are not at all like dogs. Their digestive systems cannot handle carbohydrates at all. This product is mostly made of peas and corn. One vet commented that the combo would not even be good for people! Waaaay too high in those carbohydrates! The company states on their site that they refuse to discuss safety issues by phone or e-mail, either, as I recall. I gave it one star because otherwise it would not allow me to review. I felt it was important to do so. for me, compassion comes before vegan, and as the vets and shelter people commented, the compassionate thing to do in this instance it feed appropriately for their species and keep them well.

My cat hates dry food, so I did not expect him to like this at all. To my surprise he absolutely loves it!! It's been a few weeks now and he still enjoys it, and he seems to be doing well on a vegan diet. He did regurgitate the food a few times, and I suspect that's because he ate too much too fast. I have been putting out smaller amounts of kibble more often during the day and that seems to have solved the problem. Overall, very happy with the product.

My cat ate it mixed in his other food for about 2 days then wouldn't touch it. I'm vegan and I would love my cat to be plant based but research shows that cats are obligated carnivores and need taurine etc that cannot come form plants. I don't live off of supplements neither should my cat. I wanted him to like this and wyosing but he hated both and got the runs. If you do choose to completely convert your cat to a plant based diet make sure your supplementing more then just these dry foods so they get complete nutrients to live healthy. there is other people converting cats, some have problems when they don't supplement but other are doing ok so far. i don't want my cat to be an experiment for the cause. So he's going raw meat for now. I suggest you get a dog next time so he can be plant based without any problems. ... or at least until there's some scientific studies on switching cats.

I had good faith in that product. Reviews and youtube videos were positive. My concern was that the main ingredient is corn, and i know its not the best for cats. But i bought it anyway, because veganism is my way of life... I gradually change the chicken organic formula for Ami cat in 4 days, then i had to leave for 6 days (as usual cause im a truck driver) but when i came back home, my poor cat had trown up 8 times in different places in the house, not too far from her food... First time this append... I will continue my search for vegan cat food, but grain free...
I put 4 stars, could have been 5 beacuase the company looks fine and they care about animals, but because it did not work for my little furry friend, had to cut one. Deliveryy was fast, well packed and price is very good. Maybe miss meow is allergic to corn?...
