Somewhere along the way, the product safety, consumer advocates, or product cheapeners got into the picture; so, toasters became bigger, sexier looking, with four slices and colorful gadjets.
Getting bread to fit squarely into the toaster is often a royal pain. The slots are slanted and you have to place the bread in them just right or they end up crooked with some parts of the top not down all the way. So you can stick your finger in there to push them down or you can hit cancel and try again.
But the toasts will pop up! So stand there waiting for them, or put a plate next to it so they don’t fill your table of crunchs.
